About Me

Hi, I’m Asha, and welcome to Plate full of Yum!

I didn’t grow up knowing how to cook. Like most people, I learned out of pure necessity — that moment in life when you realize you need to feed yourself… or someone small and hungry staring at you expectantly. Over time, I picked up recipes from my mother, my grandmother, friends, and, of course, the glorious world of trial and error. Some dishes worked beautifully. Some were disasters. But every single one taught me something.

As life got busier — full-time work, kids, school runs, and weekday chaos — I realized I needed to cook differently. Faster. Smarter. And still delicious. That’s why I started Plate full of Yum: to make ho me cooking approachable, nourishing, and a little joyful — one recipe at a time.

This blog is for anyone who wants Indian food without spending hours in the kitchen.

  • Beginners who don’t know where to start.
  • Busy parents who just want dinner on the table before someone gets hangry.
  • People who love flavor but don’t have time for complicated techniques.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Fast 15–20 minute Indian meals that actually work on real weeknights.
  • Instructions so beginners never feel lost.
  • Simple spice packs and easy substitutions so you can cook with what you have.
  • No guilt, no overwhelm, and absolutely no 2-hour biryanis on weekdays.

Cooking is a life skill, yes — but it doesn’t need to feel like a chore or something only “experts” can do. If I could learn it step by step… you can too.

But this blog isn’t just about recipes. It’s about the memories we create in the kitchen. Some of my fondest family memories aren’t about the food itself — they’re about the adventures of cooking together: tasting, celebrating successes, laughing at flops, and learning not to waste the dishes that didn’t turn out quite right. Every meal is a chance to share a story, create joy, and nourish both body and soul.

Let’s cook smarter, not harder — and make every meal joyful!

Cheers,
Asha
